A seasoned professional with over 30 years of experience, I have worked mainly in the non-profit environment since 1981, in the fields of public television, healthcare and education, as a graphic designer and illustrator. In a position as communications associate in healthcare marketing and now as an independent consultant, I also act as art director, hiring professionals, buying print services and managing program budgets of varying scope.
Communication and coordination with clients, and with vendors, and developing systems to assure accurate follow-through on complex projects are my strengths. The success of the assignments I’ve been involved in require patience and an attention to detail that characterizes my design style as well as my personality.
I can also take pride in a history of delivering projects on time and within budget. Working as a solo contractor and in collaboration with colleagues and clients, I bring well developed expertise to the work. I offer in-depth analyses of a client’s current needs, and craft plans to produce communications strategies to advance the organization through a variety of marketing vehicles. I am ccustomed to handling multiple assignments simultaneously. My ability to prioritize, schedule, keep abreast of current status, and communicate progress amongst clients and supervisors, is key to the smooth flow of the work. I am also a pastel and watercolor artist with work currently exhibited in private collections.
Background on you and/or your business:
I am an artist by nature and a graphic designer by profession. Since 1973, I have worked as a designer and illustrator in public television, design agencies and a major medical center. In 1995, I opened my solo design studio and have enjoyed providing visual communications solutions to meet nonprofit organizations' needs since then. I work in a Mac environment and am proficient in: Adobe CS software (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), QuarkXpress, Microsoft Office software and basic HTML.
