Description of services:

Government and its policies impact the bottom line of virtually every non-profit enterprise: libraries, arts and education organizations, workforce development, human services, transportation, health care, and economic development among many. Navigating any bureaucracy can be nerve-racking and time-consuming. Going it alone makes it twice as difficult (and half as likely to succeed). But who can afford to hire a lobbyist? You don't have to hire a lobbyist to effectively engage with elected officials who impact your bottom line

The Art of Politics has the knowledge and experience to teach you how to make your job easier and your organization more successful. Our high-energy and interactive public and government affairs training programs get rave reviews. We teach you, your board of directors, or your organization staff how to:
- Have interactions with elected officials that yield tangible results.
- Craft and execute strategic plans to engage decision makers vital to your enterprise.
- Make a successful federal or state appropriation request.

Background on you and/or your business:

Maggie Bergin, Principal at The Art of Politics, is a former Economic Development Specialist for Congressman John W. Olver (MA-01), Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation, Treasury, and Housing and Urban Development. After her work with federal appropriations, Ms. Bergin was the Legislative Director for the International Economic Development Council and the Association of Defense Communities, representing the interests of economic developers and communities impacted by base closure and realignment (BRAC).

Maggie Bergin founded The Art of Politics in 2004, where she teaches organizations how to navigates the political waters.  She'd love to speak to you about how to make your interactions with elected officials yield tangible results.

"Maggie has been a wonderful and effective advocate for us, in both Congress and Massachusetts. She quickly mastered the key elements of our business and our industry, and her credibility, her reputation, and her connections have been essential in helping us. It is abundantly clear that she is held in high esteem and is well-liked and respected at all levels. We are delighted to have her assistance." —National Fiber

"Maggie Bergin took a subject as dry and humorless as government policies and made it not only lively and instructive, but it had parts where you couldn't help but chuckle. If more of the decision makers were to see Maggie in action, things would not be as bad as they are right now. "—Craig Della Penna, Northeast Greenway Solutions

"We and the participants loved your presentation on policy making!! Your high energy and hands-on activities were just perfect, and the content was just exactly what we needed. Thank you!" —Julie Kumble - Women's Fund of Western Massachusetts
